St. Ephrem's Sports Academy is an institute which imparts holistic training to the potential students in the game of Basketball. St. Ephrem's academy is deftly linked to St. Ephrem's Higher Secondary School, Mannanam which does have a history of 135 years of educational flourishment and advancement. Situated at the Mannanam hills within a stone throw away from the Holy Shrine of St.Kurikose Elias Chavara, the academy has world-class facilities catering to the manifold needs and requirements of the students who aspire to become Basketball players of dexterity and skillfulness.
The academy functions under the stewardship of Government of Kerala State Sports Council Counc. It does have a total student strength of around 100 who are equipped to confront the challenges posed by the tight regimen of relentless and disciplined actions and activities related to Basketball.
Today, this academy stands with its head held high through sporting activities of the highest order. The students who join the academy do say eloquently about its commitment, devotion and dedication in creating basketball players of apt and adequate pedigree. Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, C.M.I. was an Indian Catholic priest and social reformer. He is the first canonised Catholic male saint of Indian origin and belongs to the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church based in the state of Kerala. He was the co-founder and first Prior General of the first congregation for men in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, now known as the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I.), and of a similar one for women, the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (C.M.C.)
Our school is under the management of CMI congregation. Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of CMI congregation is our inspiration. The school with history of 134 years has made a substantial contribution to the integral development of students. Our school consists of students belonging to Christian, Hindu and Muslim religious. Now the school is focusing the holistic development of students providing educational opportunities, creating social awareness and encouraging economic development through the sports activities.
