St. Ephrem’s Higher Secondary School Mannanam celebrates its enduring and endeavoring excellence in service. The school came into existence in 1885 and it is the first catholic school in Kerala. She is blessed by the great visionary Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara. She has produced a number of eminent people like Navodaya Appachan (Chennai, Film and Water Theme Park), C. V. Anandabose (Delhi, NAFED), Parthasardy (Trivandrum, ISRO), George C. Podipara (Retd. I. G. CRPF), Jose Chacko Periappuram (Cardiac Surgeon, Lisie Hospital), Sunny Sebastian (Pune, Water-Sport Equipments), Simpson Kalathara (New York, Bengal Tiger Restaurant), Mathew Kuruvila (M.D., Chandy’s Homes), Master Akhil Mathew Sunny represented India (Youth Basketball, 2009), Muhammad Shiras represented India (Youth – 2015 and junior – 2016 Basketball), Jerome Prince represented India (Youth Basketball, 2018), Sijomon Joseph represented India (U 19 Cricket, 2013) and Muhammed Azharuddeen (Kerala Renji Team Member).
Myriad Sports and Cultural Activities
STARS (Sports Training Aid Rendering Scheme) has been conducting a sports carnival for basketball and cricket since April 2008. The camp consists of training sessions, personality development program, group games, discussions etc.

Master Akhil Mathew Sunny is the tallest boy in the Kerala School Basketball who played in the first FIBA – Asia Youth Basketball Championship at Malaysia 2009. He is the only player from south India and he is a valuable player of Kerala State School Basketball, and his future is opened.
Kerala Renji team coach Mr. Suresh Kumar visited Mannanam state cricket sports hostel on January 20 to 26, 2010. he trained cricket players with modern techniques, corrected players bowling actions and batting technique. There was cricket matches for their match simulations. The officials of Kottayam cricket association, coaches and players attended in the training programme. He was very much impressed with the cricket center at Mannanam and its geographical location and its facilities.
