St. Ephrem's Higher Secondary School Mannanam celebrates its enduring and endeavoring excellence in service. The school came into existence in 1885 and it is the first catholic school in Kerala. She is blessed by the great visionary Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara. She has produced a number of eminent people like Navodaya Appachan (Chennai, Film and Water Theme Park), C. V. Anandabose (Delhi, NAFED), Parthasardy (Trivandrum, ISRO), George C. Podipara (Retd. I. G. Myriad Sports and Cultural Activities
STARS (Sports Training Aid Rendering Scheme) has been conducting a sports carnival for basketball and cricket since April 2008. The camp consists of training sessions, personality development program, group games, discussions etc.
St. Ephrem's School is supporting and helping to spread the wings of the kids in the basketball and cricket. More than 100 students are taking benefits daily from coaching sessions consisting of basic and advanced training programs, exhibition matches, pinpointed training and skillset acquisition programs. Parents give much support to these endeavours of the school.

It is a combination of various games played under the auspices of Ephrem's Sports Academy (ESA) in a carnival-like atmosphere. During the time of this Sports Carnival, there is a collation of games unveiled under one umbrella which would create an environment of togetherness through these games of various hues and colours. Some of the items conducted at the Carnival are Basketball and Cricket, Football training, music, aerobic dance, swimming, yoga, personality development programme, trekking, social awareness programmes etc.
To ensure the physical health and mental well-being of the students of Ephrem's Sports Academy, Yoga sessions are imparted to them by the highly trained yoga teachers to spruce up these students' spirit to persuade them to attain their maximum level of efficiency and effectiveness in their chosen areas of sports. International Yoga Day (June 21) is celebrated in the academy with all the importance that it deserves.
Cricket Academy of Mannanam strives its every nerve to conduct tournaments, training sessions, specialized attention to individual players and dispatching our teams to different parts of India to participate in various cricket tournaments organized by well-versed sports clubs and associations.
Parents' meeting is conducted in every term for both basketball and cricket players in the academy to create a rapport among teachers, parents and administrators. This meeting often results in allowing the stakeholders of the academy in arriving at right resolutions that would lead to the smooth functioning of the academy.
Ephrem's Sports Academy does bring into fruition an Annual Day Program consisting of Proficiency Awards distribution, recognizing the tremendous skills of the students of the academy on a common platform. The achievements are acknowledged by the students of the academy in different departments of Cricket and Basketball tournaments and it is to offer gratitude to all the benefactors of the Academy.
